Medical, mini-psa?
@ysabet several people i know who have had issues with rarer metal reactions (suspected titanium for one) had never been told this was an option so i figured i should spread the word, such as it is
funny relationship story
@Lady me having just scheduled four drs appointments over spring breaks really proves both those points doesn’t it lmao
@yesterdaychild @pastelsinmysky nj holding hobi’s tiny waist is such a!!!!!
@yesterdaychild guess you’ll just have to read another one to uhhhh compensate? yes thats how this works, right
@yesterdaychild truly a mystery 😅
@rowyn hm interesting! I don’t think I (or Cassie) would like it if this turned into a competition (eg. Magnus and Umbral are both okay with situation but only bc they presume Cassie will choose someone soonish, which they want to be them), but Umbral’s point about practice is certainly a good one, and they did volunteer while mostly-fully informed *ponders*
@Mayana welcome back! December was a bit overwhelm for me also so i get the need for a break (and not necessarily forseeing it enough to announce in advance) but i hope things are better for you now :)
Medical, mini-psa?
Since I just found out this is a thing—if you have allergies, particularly if you’ve ever had a reaction to nickel jewelry etc, you can get a whole surgical allergy panel done which will check for 20 different metals & other materials commonly used in surgical tools & implants!
Its a bit more involved than normal allergy skin tests so you’ll likely have to go in for multiple visits—I had to schedule mine out over my week off in march because we couldn’t find a set of appointment slots which worked with my normal schedule but it means I’ll be able to make a fully informed decision if I ever need any procedures/implants rather than being like “uhhhh I *think* I’m only allergic to nickel and maybe chromium????“
food related ish
@pixouls @Forestofglory lemon juice ice cubes are pretty versatile—throw one in anything that needs an extra acid or thaw a whole bunch out to make lemonade or lemon curd or whatever
@kevinkevinson obviously
gender-y underwear question
@twistylittlepassages yeah it may not be practical, and it might end up backfiring on me (ie. most people dont care enough to sort but when faced with the two options choose ‘less plastic’) but i do think there are ways to usefully narrow the search scope besides sorting by which gender / anatomy a pair is traditionally associated with!
gender-y underwear question
@arisingvoice @pagrus @twistylittlepassages @eldaking @JockJamJen as someone who has strong feelings about synthetics (namely “no” a ‘10% plastic or less’ and ‘10% plastic or more’) sorting system would make a lot of sense—leave the super-stretch to people who’ll appreciate it!
@lirazel 😂
@Rozzychan personally i’d just display images remained uncropped like tumblr but i get that it can be a lot to scroll thru if someones added a bunch to one post
however you *can* control which imagine is shown as the default portion! On the website for your instance, as well as many mastodon apps you can select the “focal point” which will then be centered/included anytime the full image isn’t shown (the web app just click edit & then drag the circle around, my app Metatext uses a camera focal point icon to indicate)
@yesterdaychild @lookitmychicken @Rozzychan memory isn’t cheap but local posts are a drop in the bucket compared to caching the rest of fedi—I can only think of one instance of the top of my head (ephemeral.glitch.social) which deletes local users posts and its VERY clearly signposted there
@rowyn and now for Cassie overthinking the whole thing 😆
@rowyn !!!!
