Medical, mini-psa?
Since I just found out this is a thing—if you have allergies, particularly if you’ve ever had a reaction to nickel jewelry etc, you can get a whole surgical allergy panel done which will check for 20 different metals & other materials commonly used in surgical tools & implants!
Its a bit more involved than normal allergy skin tests so you’ll likely have to go in for multiple visits—I had to schedule mine out over my week off in march because we couldn’t find a set of appointment slots which worked with my normal schedule but it means I’ll be able to make a fully informed decision if I ever need any procedures/implants rather than being like “uhhhh I *think* I’m only allergic to nickel and maybe chromium????“
Medical, mini-psa?
@ysabet yeah i’m in a similar boat where i’ve just assumed it was a simple nickel allergy (which is pretty common) and mostly not had issues with anything but costume jewelry
but i have a piece of white gold that i *might* have problems mild with??? so i asked and it turns out to be extremely answerable

@Satsuma I feel betrayed by the whole thing because I didn't develop the allergy/ies until I was in my twenties and suddenly couldn't wear normal jeans anymore. >.< (For some reason the "cover the skin-touching metal bits with clear nail polish" approach didn't work for me.)
Medical, mini-psa?
@ysabet ugh yeah thats frustrating! I also developed mine over time, though mostly during my teens when I was also busy developing symptoms for a whole host of other medical issues
Medical, mini-psa?
@Satsuma Oh, bodies. >.<
Medical, mini-psa?
@ysabet yep 😔
Medical, mini-psa?
@Satsuma I appreciate it! I've never noticed a reaction to anything but cheap metal (probable) alloys, but it'd be good to be sure.
