It might be worth trying to add more #Fediverse functionality to our sites.

The default #mastodon, for example holds posts for about 3 months and then deletes them. Also, most sites have a 500 word limit.

We need to find the balance that best supports sharing memes and stories while having enough stuff on all the #fandom tags.

For example, I added a pixelfed to host my images of #theUntamed characters.

Do you mean the cached copies of posts from other servers?

I know it's possible to set up an account (& maybe a server?) to auto-delete posts after a set amount of time, but post auto-deletion isn't a default setting.

I may have been mistaken on the deletion. You might have to check it, but in my settings there is a box that sets autodeletion at 3 months.

I thought it was default, and made sure to check the exceptions.

Anyway, I can imagine instances checking that box because memory ain't cheap.

Been looking for a good tag for this discussion and found that both #fandomFedi and #FandomFediverse exist, but I can't see any content under them. I had assumed old posts died.

@yesterdaychild @lookitmychicken @Rozzychan memory isn’t cheap but local posts are a drop in the bucket compared to caching the rest of fedi—I can only think of one instance of the top of my head (ephemeral.glitch.social) which deletes local users posts and its VERY clearly signposted there
