linguistics question

@alyssa (“united states of america’s” would be the proper genitive, probably)

linguistics question

@alyssa “genitive” is a complicated term in english, but i think “united states of america” is grammatically more similar to “freedom of speech” than “america’s united states”

religion comes from ritual
ritual celebrates the mundane

my take today is that your take today should be a blogpost

don’t have enough content for a blogpost? you don’t have a take

linguistics question

@alyssa something else i think; it’s saying essentially “the two which form us”, “the two that we are”; in this sense i think the usage of “of” is more attributive (qualifying which two), like in “the united states of america”

@coriander oh yeah i mean, most of my love for t·c·g in any form is (1) card art and (2) pokémon who aren’t good in the games getting their own moments to shine

when you hit that point of “oh, this pokémon i never thought twice about in the games is suddenly core to my strategy and i have immense feelings about its card art”, it’s a good feeling

like i don’t hate it, i think it’s mostly inoffensive, but none of the victories really feel like much of an achievement either; you’re just casually going thru the motions to kill time as evidenced by the autoplay feature

which is great if you’re just looking to kill time!! but is not going to land it on any game of the year lists or anything

my feelings regarding t·c·g pocket so far are that it’s fine as a fast casual version of t·c·g but the simplified energy mechanics, (currently) small meta, and small deck sizes make it basically impossible to run “fuck you” toolkit decks, which are the only kind of t·c·g deck i like

@coriander everybody makes fun of the video games for letting you go up against preschoolers with their Lv.5 rattata with your Lv.70 Mewtwo but TCG takes this dynamic and brings it to real life

most people have rattata decks that they play with casually outside their school and then some fucker comes along with a Mewtwo

@coriander i think pokémon TCG does okay as a game for schoolchildren playing under house rules but then suffers when you can’t make an international championship tournament out of a game for schoolchildren playing under house rules

u·s elections out of context

« “Why would you trade in your work tractor for an unproven Cybertruck?” » is a great quote

why would you even write zelink as sharing a room if you’re going to make them wait until marriage

you ever read a take written by a european

@coriander we drink exclusively skratchlabs.com/products/hydra because they’re like the only of the powdered mixes who don’t just dump in a bunch of zero calorie sweetener

@packetcat DA2 is the best in the series by far (if you can get over every dungeon looking the same); Origins and Awakening have their own charm and are closer to Baldur’s Gate

i still haven’t finished Inquisition; game is Too Big

@packetcat i will probably play it once i have a device which can but alas

u·s elections; polling

@oliphant in fairness, if you’re going to have a severe methodological error, having one which makes the race appear inconclusive is a lot better than one which makes the race appear Far Too Conclusive, which is what they did in 2016

u·s elections; polling

what does this even mean
