reminded that "work-for-hire" in US copyright law is counter-intuitively specific (and sometimes counter-to-some-people's-intuitons-ly broad)

rioplatense spanish is kinda relatively convenient for learning as a native english speaker.

since it saves on having to learn a couple of the not-present-in-english sounds used in many other dialects.

many speakers here don't distinguish /ñ/ from /nj/ (e.g. "cañón" is pronounced as "canion"). and of course, the famous sheísmo/zheísmo means that "ll" and "y" are pronounced with sounds already very familiar to english speakers (the english "sh" for most younger speakers of rioplatense)

@aescling but it's wrong :( it should be Ph|D

puzzmo crossword spoiler

annoyed at the incorrect word-separating lines on 34 across. Ph.D. is not three words!

anyway i think QW would just be entirely better for Blue Rose than any edition of Blue Rose itself?
i've only played the AGE edition but i assume the new 5e-based version is worse, and wouldn't expect the original true20 one to be better.

QuestWorlds worked great for a blue-rose-esque thing. (my friend has a somewhat system-neutral supplement for a magic system inspired by that sorta "romantic fantasy" he's working on, so i figured i'd try using it way out of its normal frame of reference system-wise while i was running a one-shot since one of our players couldn't make it today)

@wallhackio i guess it has a tendency to stand in the bottlenecks in important paths and pretend to be a tree

but nah, it's just because the name has sudo in it.

@wallhackio well as long as you’re not pretending to be a tree.

my wife, after i suggested a light-hearted one-shot premise: are you just doing pom poko

nobody else cares about spring-heeled jack

@wallhackio en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falling_ seem to be usually specified in a different way (one endpoint, direction, and length) but are the same thing

@wallhackio a little history of the world (or something like that), ernst gombrich.

i wouldn't actually, like, recommend it, as it is both written for children and in many respects erroneous. i'm just reading it because i stumbled upon the spanish translation of the second edition while i was looking for another book.

this children's history book written by an austrian guy in like a month or two during the 1930s has a surprisingly good stance on the colonization of the Americas (i.e. is clear that it was very bad)
