@Lady that's reasonable. my actual serious opinion is ambiguous on 3 to 4. 3 is bigger than 2 and 5 is, contrary to my joke opinion, about the same as 4, but yeah, 4 vs. 3 could go either way.
@Lady i voted that 4 is bigger and i'll add that 5 is bigger than 4, but 6 is about the same as 5. (yes this is based on how high rabbits can count in roleplaying game bunnies & burrows.)
@Satsuma yeah i suppose my phrasing was ambiguous. fortunately you interpreted it the way i meant. :)
@wallhackio check w yr local library. they might have institutional access you can use via their website
@aescling @wallhackio is it clipped from the nominative or is it just directly from the ablative? (orthographically anyway. obvs english pronunciations are not very latinate for it)
@wallhackio it’s actually cat-win as i pronounce it. like i assume the name edwin to be syllabified.
@wallhackio @aescling i am more than a little relieved it wasn’t offensive lol
@wallhackio @aescling i usually mentally refer to you as "catwin"
@aescling i don't play video games with sound so i don't know what its canonical cry is like but i think it doesn't make a sound. it just approaches and looms.
@Lady yeah, i've still got /i/ there.
@wallhackio right, snow. Superior, huroN, Ontario, Wrie. you don't need the mnemonic to include michigan for ovbvious reasons.
@wallhackio obviously in michigan you don't need a mnemonic because you just look out the window
@Lady in the course of the "thing" question i noticed that i don't seem to have /ɪŋ/ anywhere. /i:n/ and /ɪn/ both appear (e.g. "bean" vs. "bin"), but it seems as if with the velar it must be /i:ŋ/. curious if that is also true for you or if you have any possible counterexamples i should check
