@alis split the difference and still do kidnappings but you only take the people on the signup sheet
its such a hassle kidnapping people who are going to say no, then you have to figure out how to put them back!
@alis you could probably even skip the kidnappings and just have a signup form if the muffins and comprehensive health and childcare policies were good enough
@packetcat sodas originally evolved from “health tonics” where the presence of stimulants was the main point (sometimes much stronger ones than the caffeine + sugar combo of modern sodas!) Eg. the cola in coca-cola comes from the name of the kola nut (which has a high caffeine content and had originally been popularized in Europe & the Americas through those aforementioned health tonics). Early soda advertising was quite similar to that of the older health tonics, putting a high emphasis on the stimulant-containing ingredients they used and their “invigorating” nature.
So kind of the real question is why we got so obsessed with making something who’s main point was being a questionable health drink chock full of stimulants delicious enough that a subset of the market wants to drink it completely stimulant free (a trend which is also evidenced with tea and coffee tbf)
re: Michael Jackson
@The_T margo blames whatever library they’re using for json decoding, which apparently commonly default to windows if there’s no encoding specified
re: Michael Jackson
@The_T ~legacy systems~ presumably tho i agree thats much weirder for an android app than desktop
Michael Jackson
@The_T Windows-1252 decoding alert 😂
@gaditb that sounds interesting, almost like an echolocation sim!
@gaditb is minimally-multi about the number of players per server or the amount of potential interaction between players do you think?
@gaditb minimal/no js and styling should straightforwardly reflect the semantic tag structure of the page but it doesn’t need to be monospace or b&w
@RachelThornSub yeah ours are computer fan style, in part bc the square filters are so hard to get and that lets you use whatever size/shape of filter is easiest to get but maybe doesn’t fully meet the “cheap” criteria in terms of up front cost (i mean, in comparison to a hepa air purifier they’re still much cheaper but the fans definitely cost a bit more than the cheapest box fan)
@alis and it introduces more failure points for no reason too
sooo evil and gross
food pics
@SocialGaff looks kind of pumpkiny — does it have a firm rind or just a thin skin?
@alis we’re running into this with dishwashers rn like, i am going to have to go down there and physically put the soap in and close the door, even if i don’t want it to start immediately why can’t i just use a regular delayed start, a feature which has existed for ages??? this is such an unnecessary complication to a solved issue
@alyssa @wallhackio we are watching all of them so we will definitely get to it regardless
@alis its esp weird because i feel like summary then quote used to be the more common order too??
@transfemwulian the guqin is a fun choice! gives you a big scale to work with AND you can do chords so theres lots of options
also, they sound really pretty
@rigormorphis i can only afford to buy mine at costco pretty much
@transfemwulian not to derail into a different fandom but it occurs to me this is basically how inquiry works in mdzs
homophones for slurs
@pho4cexa in the sewing communities defense, both of these terms predate the slurs by several hundred years
@imp i guess this is just a roundabout way of agreeing with you lol
