@shonalika if they defederated you wont see any posts from .social at all, and .social wont see any of your posts. the two servers just don’t talk at all

it sounds like perhaps what actually happened here is that your instance silenced .social, in which case .social wont show up on the public timelines, you’ll have to approve follow requests from users on that instance (even if your account isn’t locked) and you wont get notifications from that server unless you have an (approved) follow relationship with that account

@artistsandhackers mastodon.art is well run if they’re looking for a larger instance, or they could try indiepocalypse.social which currently allows people to request accounts (they’ll have to be approved by the admin before they can use it)

also most instances allow existing users to generate invites for friends, so you could try that route if they like Lurk better than the other options!
