@SportsGoblin one of the color commentators is Valle, who caught for Randy Johnson & apparently he got the league record for most hit by pitch walks one season (Randy being both good at pissing people off by pitching well and by accidentally hitting people with his pitches). Which implies intentional hbp at least used to be alarmingly common
