of the cats i’ve had, all of them have been catnip likers — we even kept a potted catnip plant for two of them but i have a friend who’s kitty doesn’t react at all!
@rigormorphis yeah its directly proportional to how much water they’re taking out of the air as i understand it? but we had to keep some running for a few weeks after some water issues last summer and it was super rough
@rigormorphis be aware that they produce a TON of heat in the process of condensing, which might be a plus in the winter actually but can be killer in the summer
@rigormorphis leave the door all the way open whenever it’s unoccupied but yeah if you’re already doing that and still getting mildew issues a dehumidifier may be your only option
@brie like 10% of cats dont respond to catnip but if its a toy that would otherwise be fun for cats (which it is hopefully) there’s no reason they can’t still use it even if they don’t care about the catnip aspect
not aware of any reasons a cat owner would avoid giving a cat catnip — i guess its possible it could exacerbate some behavioral issues but i’ve never heard about that happening?

@kiesa interesting! my parents have a (dishwasher safe) milk foamer which makes great hot chocolate in a similar fashion and i think advertises itself as such (though it’s actually dishwasher safe so it has one up on that front)
@soph_sol @rigormorphis i was going to say “well i guess your rib cage / band size isn’t going to change much during the surgery so its possible that they’re using them right” but honestly i can’t even halfheartedly defend them, 100% sure they were just using societal stereotypes about cup size because its an easy stereotype to use as a shorthand
