re: white guy talking about racism on tv

@hex you’re correct, fandom just doesn’t give half as much of a shit about racism as they do about not getting to see their blorbos kiss

re: AESCLING DON'T FUCKING OPEN THIS

@wallhackio good luck w/the rest of yr venture then

AESCLING DON'T FUCKING OPEN THIS

@wallhackio are u keeping it down now that you’ve caved or is it straight back to savescumming hell

@aescling @wallhackio we gotta bring back the “aescling dont read this” cw’s huh

@RussSharek wiscon has since switched to a fully online format, but their 2023 COVID prevention guidelines were fairly effective: wiscon.net/2023/07/24/wiscon-2

@kiesa yeah i’m not an expert but my understanding is its not too different from visual reading speeds in that it varies from person to person but is generally much faster than normal speech even for slower readers

@kiesa you absolutely can train yourself to parse speech that fast! screen readers generally offer even faster options and experienced users will crank it all the way up

@federicomena i have made five or six times and game out great every time—i mix up the booze a bit but otherwise just follow exactly

good luck with your tiramisu experiments!

koreapol coup judicial ~, mental health -

@ljwrites oof yeah that kind of limbo is really rough 🫂 i hope the decision is handed down quickly and that asshole is firmly out of office!

@chad i take 3-5 minute showers so the gains from turning the water off are pretty marginal

@federicomena this is Maida Heatter’s recipe which does not mess around on $$ or effort but is definitely worth the effort:

@FlockOfCats makes sense! romanization (or really any kind of transliteration) is a tricky business

@FlockOfCats oh! and i know of the term gatcha from hearing people talk about digital gatcha games so i didn’t realize it literally translated to capsule toy! tho that does make sense with how its used so i still voted familiar

@FlockOfCats
random notes:

pan is the word for bread (or similar to) in many romance languages so i would probably blame that one on my questionable Spanish rather than Japanese culture

the spelling i’m more familiar with from pop culture is senpai not sempai as in the poll (voted recognize anyway). my phones spellcheck seems to agree as its trying to correct the m to an n haha

of this list kawaii probably wins most universally recognizable, tho personally i probably use the food words more often

@titania @sissi Miko is firmly of the belief that anything on a screen is not Real and therefore of only the mildest interest at best so its always interesting to hear about cats that go the opposite route!

@nash makes sense!
