I'm testing features of various iOS audiobook apps. One of the things I'm checking is the ability to change playback speed. I know people who regularly listen at 2x. However, one app I'm seeing allows 4x. Does anyone actually listen at that speed? Or, is it used to quickly skip through to find a specific part of a book?
(My husband has suggested that maybe it's useful to compensate for overly slow books?)
@kiesa you absolutely can train yourself to parse speech that fast! screen readers generally offer even faster options and experienced users will crank it all the way up
@kiesa yeah i’m not an expert but my understanding is its not too different from visual reading speeds in that it varies from person to person but is generally much faster than normal speech even for slower readers
@Satsuma Wow, that's amazing.
