@soph_sol it was extremely cute! They’re all really committed to educating themselves & the rest of the neighborhood and improving what gets planted in the shared neighborhood greenscape….and also running around the neighborhood in ridiculous pollinator costumes for halloween lmao

@soph_sol my moms native plants club all dressed up as bees and butterflies including someone who went as an egg and someone who went as a chrysalis

@soph_sol i am absolutely not an applicable example or the normal north american millennial nerds childhood as we had no tv growing up and barely ever went to the movies BUT when i tell people i havent seen eg. Sailor Moon they’re like “oh its good, you should watch it!” but not at all surprised, unlike when I tell them I haven’t seen some popular American kids show/movie (people will act like your parents committed war crimes if u havent seen Disney) which has given me the impression that lots of people watched little to-no anime during that era

@bright_helpings oh interesting! I think possibly we want two kinds of identification disparity, one for when its due to a lack of info/practice telling things apart (eg. I have difficulty telling conifers apart bc I don’t have much practice identifying them but my skills with deciduous trees indicate that I *could* if I read some ID guides and practiced a bunch) vs some other terms, and one for when its just not in the cards for a particular person due to perceptual differences / brain wiring / etc (eg. people with prosopagnosia aren’t lacking in practice)

war in gaza

@Lady “it justifies the continued tactic of mass killings of civilians” is not the *first* thing I would have thought to to list when explaining why I think dropping the atom bombs were wrong but uh. Evidently it should be pretty high up the list

alcohol, food

@greyor@weirder.earth sounds like a really fun visit!

@KelsonV one time i got wrong numbered about catsitting, told them i wasnt who they were trying to reach and got back something along the lines of “well, can you watch my cat anyway?”

responded that I did not live in Florida (guessing based off area code) so it would be rather inconvenient

alcohol, food

@greyor@weirder.earth thats really interesting! I’ve seen dried pods but never had an occasion to see a fresh one or eat its contents

alcohol, food

@greyor@weirder.earth what do raw cocoa beans taste like? & was pod fresh or dried?

@yesterdaychild yeah haircolor is really not a reliable indicator in kpop 😆

@yesterdaychild its funny bc i probably approve 9/10 but just taking the time to look at everyones accounts so i recognize them later makes the whole thing seem a lot more friendly haha

@yesterdaychild i did this once! (when i was switching my account from anyone can follow to approval only) v much improved my experience

@rowyn *squints at whatever Magnus’s deal is*

That mushroom does sound like a pleasant way to explore a forest/bog/whatever. Well, until you’re so chill and one with the earth you let the mushrooms eat you

@ysabet yeah same here—we’re supposed to be dropping from todays 82°F back down to a much more seasonally appropriate 48° by Wednesday but the last several days have been downright summery

@stelepami wow thats a lot of detail! looks like its going to be a lovely image once its done too
