#Ao3TagOfTheDay technically not tax fraud from a legal standpoint but definitely tax fraud from an emotional standpoint

the whole thing is relevant to the ongoing discussions re:Ao3 & the OTW but i particularly want to highlight this bit: «Because the Board's power is also limited. I especially want to emphasise that right now, when we're going into a new OTW Election. Don't put your faith in a changing of the Board. The Board cannot make changes without the backing of staff and volunteers. Particularly staff. The Board only has as much power as the committees are willing to give it. Additionally, communication between volunteers and the Board is almost always funnelled through committee chairs which gives committee chairs even more power. And again, it's a lot easier to replace a Board member than it is to replace a committee chair.»

like the idea of someone masking voluntarily was just so incomprehensible that me somehow missing the fact that everyones been unmasked in stores for a year now was somehow more plausible 🙄

@EchoEkhi re: the volunteer wellbeing committee, an absolutely crucial piece of data which they (or really any competent supervisor) would need, and which ao3 is currently not collecting, is how much volunteers are actually working. Obviously the size of the commitment will vary (I would expect board members to work quite a bit more hours than tag wranglers) as will individual people’s capacities but people with higher workloads need more frequent checkins to ensure they can manage their current obligations & have things reassigned as necessary

Also, the whole “most nonprofits with this budget have paid employees for good reason” debate would go smoother if we had any idea what said employee would actually be replacing, workloadwise but thats honestly a sidenote
