re: me when im Clodboy “Caleb” “Cattwin” Cowdsire

@aescling usually he says "reported"

me when im Clodboy “Caleb” “Cattwin” Cowdsire

@aescling it is

there is a genre of japanese 4koma comic which to me feels basically like Family Circus. and i am pondering this and wondering if maybe we Americans are failing as a culture to develop a capacity for appreciating these things

@aschmitz yeah i mean i think “good website” needs to be very broad and largely objective in order to do something like this

this of course implies a good website webring

Show thread

how many good websites could we pay domain and hosting for with good website fund

Show thread

good website fund that pays you $100 a year for having a good website

@bb @bea oh and get behind / get in front of, of course

@bb @bea

- pass through
- pass on
- pass around
- pass by [also, come by, get by]
- pass along [also, get along]

[also, come to]
[also, get past]

@wallhackio would you say Deltarune puts “el tar” in “Dune”

@moonsea so long as you stay away from ActiveModel/ActiveRecord it is not too bad; you have to switch out the routing and the controllers but a lot of that stuff is basically the same across frameworks so you can keep a lot of the code

if you use Rails for your modelling though, then it gets a lot harder

@moonsea unfortunately we have our own “AO3” massive legacy rails system that it is probably infeasible to do anything about, but we also have a number of smaller API apps which it is probably more feasible to transition

we are already pretty committed to the dry-rb stack so i am hoping that makes things easy

@moonsea legitimately going to try to migrate as many work systems to Hanami in the coming years as possible rather than do another Rails upgrade

@gaditb well, i guess my stance is that a search engine that is trying to connect users to the most reliable information pertaining to their query is maybe not the best technology for meeting that goal in all cases, but it does have some advantages [particularly for niche queries with few results that might not be indexed in any other system] and it is not particularly problematic to participate in that information economy

but also search engines do not try to do that these days and now they are all participating in an a·i information economy instead, so

@gaditb i feel like being bad in either sense is a detriment

i would feel worse about not being very reachable via search engine if search engines were good
