@coriander when i actually redid english orthography completely to be sensible i used Å completely differently, to represent “ou” e.g. mouse=mås, house=hås

and you know if i was redesigning English completely to be sensible i would stand by that, but in terms of more of a gradual transition i think that leaving OU as a digraph is probably fine

@coriander "hot" etc is said with the same vowel as "hall"

@coriander oh i have cot~caught i say fall /fɑl/ not /fɔːl/ but that /ɑ/ is in fact the sound of a short O in my english

@coriander i mean the obvious alternative is to write tol and smol but it gets fuzzier with words like fol (fall), bol (ball), etc

tål, smål, fål, bål, these are more obvious

@coriander look sometimes A makes the sound of an O and idk what to do with that other than to write it as an A topped by a little O

@coriander as far as american myths go, “america has the kind of batshit fucker who will fly an alien ship into the alien ship base in order to plant a trojan horse virus so some other batshit fucker can blow a different ship up by flying directly into its laser beam” isn’t half bad

@adobo not large ones as of yet; i think there is talk of people spinning up smaller archives and maybe even someday having federation but a lot of it is hypothetical right now

@adobo the short answer re: pluralkit is just that they haven't bothered to investigate it at all yet; maybe they will in the future but i'm not holding my breath

but yeah 100% do not trust the otw. they are extremely dysfunctional and i think it is only a matter of time before they start running out of volunteers to sustain their operation. who knows what will happen at that point
