@witchfynder_finder they are doing lots of playthroughs but specifically avoiding the endings where X character dies young every time
@witchfynder_finder what’s weird about it is that there are a set number of endings written into the game, right, and those are all like, part of the game, and people are just willfully avoiding some parts of it
idk to me it’s like skipping chapters of a book because you don’t want the characters to suffer
like, you do realize this is a fictional character, you are not actually consigning a real person to this fate, it’s just a story
@Satsuma @Satsuma@wandering.shop cannaht geten mi mustard bicause all th sailers been ded
@Satsuma @Satsuma@wandering.shop the other day on the news i heard people saying that we needed to acknowledge the COVID virus as a global problem because worker shortages in other countries are what is producing our production delays, so we can thank globalized capitalism for that, i guess
@Satsuma@wandering.shop @Satsuma i mean people still talk about HIV/AIDS like it’s primarily a Western gay thing, so
@noelle not sure what news you’re talking about, but…
i think part of the problem is a lack of recognition of the importance of publishers and a lack of diversity in that scene relative to studios… we have, like, Annapurna Interactive and Finji??
if you don’t have a good publisher backing whatever project you’re working on, then all of the problems of publishing and capitalism are going to infiltrate your studio. that’s a problem for anyone working on the scale at which games are usually launched
imagine writing a javascript tutorial and just assuming that if your reader understands “arrays”, “objects”, and “basics of classes” that will be fine
most JavaScript tutorials read to me in a way i can honestly only describe as contemptuous; they obscure basic language features on the assumption that readers are not capable of understanding them, really a reflection of the fact that the post author does not feel comfortable explaining them or does not understand them themselves
i’m not what i would call an expert in ECMAScript (for which i think you pretty much have to be directly involved in JavaScript engine development) but i’m pretty sure i know more than most people who write introductory/educational posts regarding the language
@witchfynder_finder yeah i love that character in Smash
of course there are responsible ways of approaching XY&Z but at some point you have to admit that everything around you is specifically designed to encourage you to be irresponsible
@witchfynder_finder it’s a lot easier to defend them in a world where people don’t need money to Eat
