I've long wanted to start a game studio. Small, inclusive, protective of its employees, no crunch, profit sharing. One Of The Good Ones.

With all the news lately, I'm less and less inclined to believe that there are Good Ones, and I worry about what abuses I feel like I'd inevitably end up committing or on the hook for. :blobsad:

i think part of the problem is a lack of recognition of the importance of publishers and a lack of diversity in that scene relative to studios… we have, like, Annapurna Interactive and Finji??

if you don’t have a good publisher backing whatever project you’re working on, then all of the problems of publishing and capitalism are going to infiltrate your studio. that’s a problem for anyone working on the scale at which games are usually launched
