@aschmitz @phildini signing only verifies information about the committer, not the author, so there is still a high degree of trust involved regarding the authorship of code. it gives you confirmation that the person who git says committed the code was the actual committer, meaning it can work in tandem with other processes you have for committers like verifying authenticity of commits and ensuring licensing rights. if you don’t have defined processes for committers, then a provenance chain that goes back to them (and stops there) does not get you much in my experience
@wallhackio @aescling @vaporeon_ notably in a traditional SPA the javascript can be cached so the only thing you are requesting on each page load is a very small JSON blob, which is much lower bandwidth than sending entire rendered HTML pages every time somebody navigates to your site, which are constantly changing and not cacheable
@wallhackio @aescling @vaporeon_ hydration is extremely a “i have fast internet and slow javascript what do i do” kind of solution
@wallhackio @aescling @vaporeon_ transmitting a json blob over the wire and rendering it with javascript is faster than transmitting HTML over the wire and making it post facto dynamic, if your JS is fast and your rendered HTML is complex and your internet is slow

@coriander as a catholic i am morbidly curious whether it would make sense to me or be completely incomprehensible
@aschmitz @aescling @Satsuma @wallhackio i recommend just switching to CotEditor but i do think there is a toggle for this somewhere in TextEdit preferences

@aschmitz @Satsuma @wallhackio i am not particularly good at shell scripting but that’s because i abstract all the control logic into GNU Make syntax but Caleb already rejected that one
@aschmitz @Satsuma @wallhackio honestly if you want to be portable ruby is likely a better bet than shell
