@coriander In its struggle against these conditions criticism is not a passion of the head but the head of passion. It is not a lancet, it is a weapon. Its object is an ENEMY it wants not to refute but to DESTROY. For the spirit of these conditions has already been refuted. In and for themselves they are objects not WORTHY OF THOUGHT but EXISTENCES as despicable as they are despised. Criticism itself does not even need to be concerned with this matter, for it is already clear about it. Criticism is no longer an END IN ITSELF but simply a MEANS.
[…]
The criticism dealing with this matter is criticism in HAND-TO-HAND combat, and in such combat the point is not whether the opponent is noble, equal, or INTERESTING, the point is to STRIKE him.
@akjcv@types.pl @Satsuma your worldbuilding should not dictate what you can write; what you want to write should dictate your worldbuilding
@coriander wikipedia claims one major reason the colonialist stuff got added to thanksgiving was because it made it easier to teach colonial nationalism in schools in the late 19th and early 20th centuries if it was attached to a holiday
@coriander anyway the whole colonialist thing is actually revisionism; it was just a calvinist get-together for folks who thought christmas was idolatry
@coriander maybe move it to a date which makes sense somewhere other than new england
@coriander nice congrats
@coriander in a good way or bad way?
@bea oaks?
“this take was made by someone who is probably bourgeois and consequently beneath my notice” is a great strategy for not needing to waste energy being bothered by takes
so whenever i see someone making a take praising bluesky for whatever, it’s true they don’t convince me anything one way or the other about bluesky, but they do convince me that they are probably bourgeois and consequently beneath my notice
and i fundamentally have a hard time believing that anyone who does is a working-class person with loved ones and a job who deeply cares about and is deeply affected by the issues, because where are they finding the time
the burned tower burned down 150 years prior to the lake of rage incident which makes that almost exactly contemporaneous
breeding cyndaquil while exploring ecruteak city and the burned tower and those are the vibes
