i have made choices and am paying for them

@zkat you jest but when queers don't celebrate queer accomplishments as queer accomplishments how can we expect straights to

@zkat @jamey i think you're viewing this as a personal performance but my point is that there are other ways of defining it. e.g., you made KDL, but i’ve read the KDL docs numerous times and don’t recall ever seeing anything indicating that it was a gay software / specification. so you could be more out in that context, and that’s just one of many

@jamey @zkat do all of your coworkers and all of the people everywhere who use your software know that it was written by a gay person? if not, you could probably be out more aggressively

@jamey @zkat coming out day was originally intended to demonstrate that gay people exist in the workplace and make notable contributions to society, as a political project, not just a day of telling your friends and loved ones you’re gay

i still think there’s a place for that today even for people who are already “out”

list of companies that really went downhill after steve jobs died

@amy is the chart weighted so that your highest results always appear maxed out? if the goal is just to show relative levels compared to other attributes not absolute levels compared to other people that might be the case

@coriander it's obvious but needs saying that your first draft is not going to be what you publish so it's fine if not everything is good

it can be half good and half bullshit; replacing the bullshit parts in a later draft is much easier than writing all good parts from scratch

@coriander generally what i find is i just like roll with it even though it's half-baked and then some time when i'm thinking about something totally unrelated i'll have a moment of inspiration about what is missing and it will all click into place
