@zkat the way I see it, the day is a time for acknowledging everything around "coming out": that it's difficult for many people, that many are not out, that it's unjust that we even have to think about this. celebrating that you are already out is entirely in scope, in my opinion, and maybe helps people who haven't gotten to take that step yet
@zkat @jamey i think you're viewing this as a personal performance but my point is that there are other ways of defining it. e.g., you made KDL, but i’ve read the KDL docs numerous times and don’t recall ever seeing anything indicating that it was a gay software / specification. so you could be more out in that context, and that’s just one of many

the historical note about the origin of coming out day was helpful! I'm not seeing the rest of this conversation going helpful places though; I think the two of you may be talking past each other, and at any rate I'm not sure I want to be in this thread further
