@gaditb yeah i agree. but i think the problem is that ex-Twitter folks have now entered a lot of spaces which are rightly celebrating the death of twitter, and gotten defensive about that. the process of mourning needs to include a bit where you recognize that the thing which was good for you was also responsible for massive ecological destruction, or else you're just going to keep butting heads with the people who were harmed by it.

this has maybe strayed a bit from the original subtoot. but i think there's mourning and then there's PUBLIC mourning and it's really hard to do public mourning of a thing when you're surrounded by people that that thing hurt. and there needs to be some awareness of that tension

@gaditb i mean abstractly yes but concretely i'll still celebrate the end of big oil even if it means thousands lose their jobs

i get that nobody talks about how much they are looking forward to botw2 but that's because it's an unstated assumption that the entire gaming industry is waiting to see what happens with botw2
