@witchfynder_finder the west has been fucking things up in the middle east for a very long time

@witchfynder_finder regarding the book, i think its inspirations are drawn a little earlier, so like how the Romans were fucking up the East

@packetcat i think there are bits of both.

some technical aspects of music, like volume, or harmony/dissonance, or staccato/legato, or tempo, are pretty mechanical in nature and probably are widely understood across cultures, the same way that yelling or speaking quickly/forcefully is.

but other aspects (and sometimes including those same aspects) are more contextual. for example our idea of “solemn” in the west is inspired by Catholic church music. or playing quietly, which normally would be calm, can instead seem tense/anxious, the same way that a person can speak calmly but still convey that they’re furious.

zeraora seemed a little like @aescling bait but i mean the mom with the butch haircut was @Lady bait so i can’t complain

i choose you! basically felt rushed the entire time and contrarily, despite having a much larger cast and more complex storyline, the power of us never felt like things were moving too fast or too slow

Show thread

i knew it was “well received” in the sense that of 6 extremely unnoteworthy reviewers, the majority liked it (making it the only “Certified Fresh” pokémon movie), but i was surprised at how good the general composition and direction was (it’s the first movie to not be directed by Kunihiko Yuyama) even if the script suffered from some flaws

Show thread

the power of us was actually a very competent movie

Show thread

it’s not a pokémon movie if ash doesn’t bite the dust

pokémon, othewise known as the milf anime,

holmes if you actually cared then Moana wouldn’t’ve been CGI

re: cursed food thought

@KitRedgrave you’ve got it backwards, hamburger is meatloaf

oh shit we have homemade cookies & coffee & cream ice cream in the freezer

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma i have not noticed this problem in my experiences, or it is just so automatic that i do it without thinking

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma feel like that would get in the way of “easy thermoregulation”; the whole point is that you can easily adjust how open it hangs

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma i mean what i’m describing is basically just a blanket scarf only made out of actual blanket

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma yeah i feel like with a full sized anything it would need to be thin and you’d just fold it in half lengthwise

like with a wool blanket you could probably manage

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma my favourite quilt is 3.5′ × 5′ but i have a blanket which is twin‐sized and that works alright (i am tall)

definitely no bigger than that

re: Academia (good news tho)

@Satsuma if you’re literally running around, you fold the quilt in half or thirds and drape it over your shoulders like a scarf

it’s less warming that way but if you’re running then the freedom of motion is more important
