@coriander it is somewhat kinda valid to say that what Beyonce did is not "country" because like... i don't think it was a country album lmao (it did have some country songs though).

But if country music with trap beats can get nominations and country music radio play then so should Bey's

@coriander i was so angry after going to r/country and seeing a discussion with people saying that Beyonce's foray into country felt inauthentic but Post Malone's felt authentic that I listened to her country album out of spite and it was very good. Unfortunately Post Malone is on one of the songs which is probably my main criticism

@coriander it is a minooooooooooooooooooooor slight on the rest of his catalogue from the year, imo

I think I left academia because none of the research opportunities available to me involved mechanics from Battlefield 1

@Lady @aescling i found a video of an indian man explaining the concept with a terrible microphone so i think i'm good

@Lady @aescling i know you have a brain that can make sense of dry specification but for me that is the single worst way for me to learn a data exchange format lmao

@Lady @aescling I wrote a simple node script the other day that parsed an HTML page full of tabulated data to covert the data into useful JSON form (I'll give you one guess for what purpose this was for). I suppose I could use an XML parser if I really wanted to but I don't see any need to rewrite my script given that all works just fine in node.

i really was a fandom guy this whole time wasn't I

suddenly had flashbacks to a moment in middle school when we did some project with toothpicks and I somehow managed to create convincing art of various sonic characters out of goddamn toothpicks

One indication of how based the JavaScript object is is that JSON became the defacto standard for data exchange despite Microsoft's efforts to push XML on us

i managed to use functional programming for BF1 wonkery :)

@aescling it moreso reflects how excellent popular music was this year
