at that point you really either should compile on a different machine (inconvenient for us at the moment, but feasible) or fucking,,,,,, buy even more RAM,

and then there’s asset precompilation. here at GlitchCat we just swap because you need several more gigs for that!! and that’s uhhhhhhhh kinda bad for uh the actual underlying SSDs

for the record, the cheapest 4 gigabyte droplet is 20 bucks a month

really something that just having mastodon idling requires somewhere between 2 and 4 gigs of RAM if you enable text search. good luck not swapping if you don’t want to or can’t pay money
