@aescling @alyssa no but obvious cognates that have a very different implication in english are usually the ones which one remembers
either:
• your latin classes were wholly impractical and never taught you how to say “this bothers me”, or
• a whole classroom of high school students were taught the word “molestō” and didn’t Immediately Make It A Big Deal
and either of these options feels sad to me
