Kobold

@Lady why are u attavking kobold

@sysadmin1138@octodon.social i am planing to attempt the great trans-american train trip soon, which does seem naively east coaster of me 😆

@platypus looking at the weather forecast for this evening like 😬

@nomo it was so weird! did not understand at all

@nomo the brits are weirdly casual about gambling by American standards, when I went to England there were just like, normal storefronts full of slot machines sitting right between the convenience store and the coffee shop and it never stopped surprising me

i guess having an official gov’t run lottery is one way to ensure your regulations on that kinda thing remain lax 😆

rethinking the risks and benefits of online spaces

@ljwrites yeah despite all the moral panic about online dangers, people dont seem to take *actual* online hatespeech / harassment very seriously. That goes in the same online is fake category as digital relationships alas

rethinking the risks and benefits of online spaces

@ljwrites but that doesnt actually make being online *more* dangerous necessarily, its just a different set of risks

rethinking the risks and benefits of online spaces

@ljwrites i think the biggest issue with online safety is scale — it used to be there were very few people in the country notable enough to have 200+ people sending them hatemail, now that can happen to literally any person who’s post happens to go viral in a bad way

@soph_sol you could search through the old ones on local storage using something like archive-explorer.com maybe?

re: CW: food, baking

@pixouls filo dough maybe??? those sheets can get huge before you fold them up but like…who has the counterspace

@moonchildontheblueside @yesterdaychild @ClarityClare7@apobangpo.space @asya @sopebakeshop that would explain why we’ve never seen it

@moonchildontheblueside do u think the “i think i’ll wear this home” line included the shirtlessness under the jacket

@sissi oooh yes i can picture exactly that color, even though i have no idea what the right word for it is!

@sissi rust i think can go either way? “rusty” is *definitely* dirty/uncared for but saying a shirt is eg. rust red probably doesn’t mean someone left it out on the iron fence and it stained. And I think iron based red paints are often labeled “iron oxide” (which of course is just rust) because it sounds nicer haha

But yeah its funny how some languages have lots of color words and others are like “ehhh five colors is probably fine”

@sissi oh neat! yeah the english names for other metal oxides have connotations more like what you describe with verdete—eg. tarnish (silver) or rust (iron). I guess verdigris is just pretty enough to be more associated with the on-purpose-for-paints variety? or something like that :)
