figured it out! ?min_id=0 works
i couldn’t get max to accept nonreal ids which is why id assumed this no longer worked but apparently for min its fine lmao
@maloki if you know a specific post id, you can still see stuff that was posted around the same time by adding ?max_id= to your public profile URL but you do seem to need a valid post id to use
from what i can tell, 2.0 was when id’s switched from being sequential to snowflake, hence the speculation that, if thats the technique im remembering, it would have stopped being possible around then
@aescling hmmm nope
@aescling oh i bet i could just set that to zero
i mean bc usually i do but the suffix for seeing a profiles oldest posts has escaped me 😔
@asya if you want to be annoyingly extra about it, you can do LRT’s in a reply where you’ve untagged OP & then boost your own post so that when people click it threads properly with the relevant context
#DecRecs copperbadge rarely needs introduction, but i’ll attempt to give him one nonetheless—sam does an excellent job blending his own style with more period appropriate language in this, the result of which is a lot of enjoyable wordplay and other turns of phrase without ever distracting from the narrative
inspired by the bit in the cold open where aziraphale and crowley watch a rehearsal of hamlet, though it’d work well enough as a pre-canon interlude for the book instead if you prefer

just saw someone say twitter was always easy to use, completely ignoring the period where typing @ username did nothing except indicate who you were talking to in the unfiltered plaintext unthreaded hashtagless feed and RTs were just the full text of a tweet copy/pasted with a "RT username" typed manually in front of it
(that was when i actually enjoyed using twitter because i'm annoying)

sympathy & advice re:vent :)
@siren as a fellow dropout (CFS/ME) i absolutely feel you on the awkwardness. even outside of the shame/stigma this is just not something that has a clear social script. i never knew what to say to people id lost touch with when i dropped out and they pretty much never knew what to say to me either (winner i think was the guy who randomly commented “wait you’re still alive???” on my insta one day lmao)
i also want to say you don’t need a redemption arc—your life path might not be normal but that doesn’t mean your accomplishments aren’t real or worthy of respect. and you absolutely DO have accomplishments, figuring out how to manage ones health is a whole journey in itself. i’m proud of you for making it this far, even if you can’t quite see it that way 💛
@MinnieLee4 hey welcome! if you’re looking for a tutorial, https://apobangpo.website/faq/ has some tips on how to use the site, or you can try https://fedi.tips for more info. but you can also just ask questions! we’re happy to help new users figure things out :)
@menziesii my recommendation is to go as large as you can manage w/out it getting in the way. even a super basic flag design is way more irritating to transmisics when presented on a 3 inch circle stuck to someones tote
@bizbot whats my job?
Cory Doctorow reminded me that January 1, 2023 is Public Domain Day (observed), and this year we get a plethora of awesome ...
including METROPOLIS.
