@coriander the beatles were “good” primarily because they were popular enough to be allowed to do the weird artsy stuff in the studio that everybody else wished they could do
which is not their fault, but reinforces my indie belief that recorded music writ-large didn’t really get good until the invention of the cassette tape when people stopped needing to give labels the time of day
live music is a completely different matter ofc but who would ever go see the beatles live
@coriander hey if you pick charmander it makes the first gym really hard

war in gaza
@Satsuma meanwhile biden officials keep being like “but you know how the iraq war WENT tho, right??” over and over
war in gaza
@Satsuma they're literally saying “the state of israel should be allowed to wage its own version of the iraq war like the u·s famously did after 9/11” out loud in public now
war in gaza
« It became evident to U.S. officials that Israeli leaders believed mass civilian casualties were an acceptable price in the military campaign. In private conversations with American counterparts, Israeli officials referred to how the United States and other allied powers resorted to devastating bombings in Germany and Japan during World War II — including the dropping of the two atomic warheads in Hiroshima and Nagasaki — to try to defeat those countries. »
war in gaza
« Mr. Blinken has visited Israel three times. Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III met with his counterparts there, along with Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, the commander of Central Command, and then Rishi Sunak, the British prime minister. A European official said their visits were not coordinated with the United States but that everyone had the same idea that it would be hard to start a ground invasion while senior officials were in the waiting room. » lmao well that's a strategy i guess
@coriander i liked the last series of pokémon anime (pokémon journeys) because Goh’s whole bit was trying to catch one of every kind of pokémon which meant it spent a lot of time showing this dorky pre-teen going “wow! so cool!” at all the just totally random forgotten pokémon in the back-catalogue
@coriander what i like about pokémon is that if you play it enough in enough formats, eventually every poké becomes meaningful to you
like i used to think seismitoad was a terrible ugly pokémon and would never willingly catch one but then it became the centrepiece of my TCG deck and now i love it
i thought barbaracle was horrible and pointless but then while vacationing on the beach i caught a shiny one and it was extremely thematically appropriate
etc

Hello fediverse.
Today I bring you a blog post on the Ten Forward blog about a topic that is very important to me personally.
Palestine, Antisemitism, and the Fediverse
https://tenforward.blog/palestine-antisemitism-and-the-fediverse/
I am also announcing the Ten Forward Fundraiser for PCRF (Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund).
https://pcrf1.app.neoncrm.com/tenforward
As such, I am requesting boosts on this post so both the post and the fundraiser get as much visibility as possible.
@coriander always remember, every day is a dog’s birthday
probably multiple dogs
re: hygiene; webcomics
@Satsuma sure but is having your characters appear to be ignorant westerners really the vibe you want to give for your comic
re: hygiene; webcomics
even if we had magically cured covid i would still mask during cold & flu season it's fucking october
at some point your comic stops just being a no-COVID AU and becomes a “world which still doesn't know how respiratory illnesses work” AU
