fewer conversations; more dialectics

« “The Eternal Feminine and Masculine become the poetic fancies of a weakly dimorphic species trying to imitate every other species in a vain search for what is ‘natural.’” »

the canned cadence of a young academic without tenure

he was a sk8er boi she said c u l8er boi he wasn't good enough 4 her

Gender weirdness

@astraluma just speaking personally, i don't feel comfortable in a crowd of cishet women but it's not because of my genitals, it's because i'm a bulldyke and could not care less about makeup or jewelry or boys. that's not to say i don't still have feminine qualities or don't still like cute things—i do—but i relate to those things the way a dyke relates to them, not in the way of a prospective-or-actual straight man’s wife

female sisterhood is sisterhood across these differences, not sisterhood which erases them. don't waste your time with girls who expect you to be the same kind of girl that they are; on the other hand, shower those butches and dykes and lipstick lesbians and pillow princesses and riot grrrls and whatever else who know how to get along with love

Gender weirdness

@astraluma lesbian is at least three distinct genders from straight woman anyway

@coriander yeah but a better tortilla comparison is, like, how do you eat your breakfast

some people pile all their breakfast onto an english muffin and eat it as a sandwich, some people eat every ingredient individually and have the muffin just with butter, some people land somewhere in the middle

tortilla is a flatbread for delivering food to mouth, but i* think you have as much freedom as you want regarding exactly which foods to mouth how

*i am not mexican(-american) so others may chime in and say “no kibi you’re wrong” but like. it’s a flatbread, not the Eucharist; the versatility is the point

@coriander the only way to fuck up a tortilla is to call it a “wrap”

state of israel; trump

« American Jewry is divided over whether denunciations of Mr. Trump might harm American policy toward Israel, should he return to power, Mr. Hayes said.

“The more people prioritize Israel, the more they are willing to make excuses for Trump, and that just makes me sad,” he said. » hoping this will be an “are we the bad guys” moment for at least some folks, finally

re: u·s rail strike

@aescling i mean no, not without a rail strike, because republicans won't sign on to it, but

u·s rail strike

« “Let me be clear: A rail shutdown would devastate our economy,” the president said. “Without freight rail, many U.S. industries would shut down.” » then pass a bill which gets the workers what they need 🤷🏻‍♀️

@coriander see this is one of the things atla got right

that and appa

@Satsuma @admin it is still a thing afaik although i’m not admin of a v4 instance to be able to check; look in administration > site settings, near the bottom

@coriander it's probably not that your phone heard your mom talk about the bills specifically but that whatever prompted her to talk about the bills with you is also prompting other people in her/your social circle to have conversations about the bills, which then gets linked to you through association

hate it when the art requires that the lesbianism be implicit rather than explicit
