@coriander but like in a socialist way not a glorify elon musk way
@coriander goblin society is ALL ABOUT the sickos
@coriander goblins are like humans but extreme in this sense
and humans being humans decided they would rather live a life with really sick guitar riffs in it
nature was like you can all be healthy, happy, and productive, OR some of you can learn some really sick guitar riffs
being good at writing also means being able to appreciate to a greater extent the beauty in various turns of phrase so it's not all bad
but you don't get good without hijacking your brain’s pattern-matching to constantly notice flaws in text and identify discrepancies between stated and intended meaning
noticing these things doesn’t make you a bad person but it does inevitably lead you down the path of being kind of an asshole
every time anyone says anything you are reminded that the world is a flawed, imperfect place and that things could be better
@clayote i think that's the thing though, the number of memorable things a brain can actually retain in a given time period is limited
if your game is just one memorable thing after another then retention on that will actually be pretty low, compared to one memorable thing and then an hour with nothing to do but think about it as you work towards the next memorable thing
everyone complains about how quickly people play contemporary games, move on, and forget about them in an endless churn; if only there was a game mechanic which required people to take their time with things and spread it out across multiple sittings
