what we actually need in creative writing is mentorship, the same thing we need in the arts in general
not coursework
like it was fine but i could take a hundred such upper level creative writing classes and still never be any closer to being a good writer
@noelle i mean it only stands out in this author's case because the rest of their writing is pretty alright so it's a bit of a veiled compliment
like they haven't quite figured out a style which actually suits their strengths yet and so are still just going with whatever their preconceived notion is of what a story should be
they'll get better in time
i have already read significantly more pages of random scholars in the qing dynasty fucking ghosts than i have of any chinese classic
@dried i think the most common approach is a <link> element in the header to a google-hosted stylesheet
you can also include it in other ways, like an @import CSS rule, but <link> is the easiest and most popular (or was a year or two ago when i last looked into it)
and yeah, it's definitely possible to parse that query parameter for those fonts
probably brass actually now that i'm zooming in on the picture
originally i wanted to say iron but no iron knuckle is a kind of enemy
« Several months went by till one night by lamplight, Lian Suo smiled at Yang as though wanting to say something, then, blushing, stopped short, repeating the action several times. He hugged her and asked her what was on her mind. "For a long time," she replied, "you've treated me with love, bearing my ghostly presence and making me part of the human world, till now my dead bones suddenly have a little vitality. I only need some semen and blood from a living person and I can return to life."
Laughing, Yang said, "I wasn't the one who resisted sex—wasn't I keen on it?" »
