@packetcat i miss stumbleupon and think mastodon is lacking good ways of discovering interesting web pages appreciated by people in your community but i think trends are a really half-baked way of bringing that about
most significantly because they can't disambiguate “i’m sharing this because i like it” and “i’m sharing this because i hate it”
@packetcat i use the advanced now but used simple for a long time and didn't mind it at all
right now i have all of the people i follow organized into lists and don't even have the home timeline visible, which i think is the best way to use advanced layout
@packetcat @aescling yeah scheduled_at is older than polls https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/statuses/
@packetcat @aescling there is still no UI for scheduling posts either right even though i think there is an API for it
@witchfynder_finder oh people also hate geminis
« In this enclosed, steamy space, it was more difficult than ever not to be hyper-aware of their lack of clothing and certain parts of their bodies » “hot and steamy” refers to body heat and steam on windows, not literally warm steamy environments, which actually have a relaxing effect
@witchfynder_finder i know give me my sexually experienced fanfics!!
@witchfynder_finder they're too new to this to be winking and nodding unfortunately
i like this quote because it's something every couple tries and figures out immediately doesn’t work
@hystericempress @astraluma somewhat tangentially and a bit contradictorily, i think sedgwick was onto something when they suggested that the reason squares are so bad at media analysis is because they’ve never had to work hard to see themselves in it
@monorail « Early English translations of the Bible used the familiar singular form of the second person, which mirrors common usage trends in other languages. The familiar and singular form is used when speaking to God in French (in Protestantism both in past and present, in Catholicism since the post-Vatican II reforms), German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Scottish Gaelic and many others (all of which maintain the use of an "informal" singular form of the second person in modern speech). »
from the Wikipedia article for “thou”, because i remembered using thou not you for God in english is a thing
Administrator / Public Relations for GlitchCat. Not actually glitchy, nor a cat. I wrote the rules for this instance.
