do you use the lists feature in Mastodon?

this one is for people who primarily use the Mastodon web UI

do you use the 'advanced' multi-column layout or the single column layout?

I'm doing some informal research for a blog post that I want to write for the 5 year anniversary of me being here

so feel free to boost these

what are your thoughts on the various 'trending' features in Mastodon?

(for example, trending hashtags on Mastodon versions older than 3.5.0 and on 3.5.0, we also have trending posts and trending URLs if instance has trends enabled)

this is a open ended question, not a poll so feel free to reply with as little or as much as you like

@packetcat i miss stumbleupon and think mastodon is lacking good ways of discovering interesting web pages appreciated by people in your community but i think trends are a really half-baked way of bringing that about

most significantly because they can't disambiguate “i’m sharing this because i like it” and “i’m sharing this because i hate it”

@Lady stumbleupon...that's a name I haven't heard in a long time now

@noelle @Lady yeah I...stumbled upon it back when I was first getting into blogging myself, in my teen years, never actually used it though

@packetcat @Lady hee hee. was fishing for "well, of course I know it. it's me!" ;)

@packetcat back in my day, the web was full of pages, and idle surfing was an actual way people would pass the time…… instead of doomscrolling social media
