reminds me of
« I saw people being really compulsive but really enjoying it. I saw that these guys sort of related to their terminals the way I relate to the piano and I thought, maybe I can do that too. I saw all these people running around with the same intensity as I have with the piano and they tell me that I'll probably be good at computers. These are the guys who are helping me do this course. And they keep telling me, yes, you're going to be real good at it. Don't worry about it, but you're going about it in the wrong way. They tell me I'm "not establishing a relationship with the computer." And to me that sounds gross. It is gross to me, the way these guys are. I don't like establishing relationships with machines. I don't like putting it that way. Relationships are for people. »

@aescling jack has spent the last bit setting it up with a new CEO and is now resigning because he thinks being founder-led is limiting the project's potential
@aescling ah, yes, that definitely helps decide the question
@monorail i mean this actually goes to another complaint regarding the more recent pokémon games but in earlier games HMs were used to give you a reason to return to various areas…… in more recent games it feels like HMs or the equivalent have been primarily for linearizing the narrative and don’t really unlock much of anything in the places you’ve already been
so like i’m a bit of an HM apologist but with that i want a game design where like, returning to Route 03 after you can use Rock Smash or Cut actually gets you something
@monorail i think i would still want the “you need the Gym Badge to use this in the field” rule but with that this could be interesting
« That means one of my favorite jokes goes by the wayside. A priest starts shouting into the microphone saying: "Is this thing on?"
He makes lots of noise and finally says: "Something is wrong with this mic!" And the congregation replies: "And also with you!" »
if you don't know what the fuck i'm talking about you didn't go to Mass before 2008 when they evidently revised this response to be “and with your spirit” which is much less fun
Administrator / Public Relations for GlitchCat. Not actually glitchy, nor a cat. I wrote the rules for this instance.
