@wallhackio well then instead of writing elegant code to solve simple tractable problems you will probably be spending a lot of time trying to work against abstractions and constraints you have created for yourself
p·l·a is probably a good candidate for playing in a different language actually because the gameplay loop gives a lot more space between periods of dialogue
@Satsuma @aescling @wallhackio @coriander tanuki like to fuck it’s a major plot point
@aescling @coriander @wallhackio @Satsuma we ran out of condoms like two weeks ago and it was very sad, we really needed a wegmans trip
@aescling @coriander @wallhackio @Satsuma i suggested Satsuma Seedless™
re: a bit of historical context by way of attempting an answer, long
@Satsuma @calcifer and one should also note that the recent student protests at universities have actually been used by the right to enable increased surveillance and militarization and the defunding of education (which is not to say i do not support student protestors, but at the same time, it is not easy to say that these are simply inconveniences for the right, and not opportunities they are actively cashing in on)
re: a bit of historical context by way of attempting an answer, long
@Satsuma @calcifer i recommend reading “I Was Wrong About Why Protests Work” https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/21/opinion/zeynep-tufekci-protests.html?unlocked_article_code=1.9k4.aMf3.gXSWtHohQ_wW&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare (link should be unlocked) which makes this case citing the Iraq War protests as “historic” protests which actually did not accomplish anything, because Bush was able to effectively dismiss them as irrelevant. to turn the question on its head, if protests worked, people in power would not be ABLE to (successfully) discredit or downplay them; historically this was the case, but it likely hasn’t been so (in a United States context at least) since the turn of the millennium
@wallhackio @aescling i don’t think it has very many and i think they’re mostly not evil though
@wallhackio @aescling oh maybe we’re just agreeing and think we’re arguing
i was going to say:
» i’m mostly joking but to me the only conceptual barrier to adding a new feature to a language is incompatibility with what has already been specified
» so it stands to reason that the language which is the least specified will be the one with the most potential for new features
because i interpreted you as saying “i consider the potential for a language feature to be added to, itself, be a language feature”
but if you are not taking such a radical stance and only talking about features as they exist today, i think we both agree that javascript has language features, i just forgot what they were?
@wallhackio @aescling oh well then C must have the most features, on account of being the least specified
