remember how in pokémon black version and pokémon white version, the pokémon games set in america, the main plot is about how N wants to free the pokémon from slavery, and the moral of the game is that actually the pokémon are happier as the property of trainers
remember when pokémon decided to make a region based in america and its backstory was a civil war between truth (white) and ideals (black)
american patriotism is

- still better than the other american religion

@aescling is this like minecraft villager speech noises
@alyssa @aescling usually instead what (bad) authors do is try to break up the scene with sincerity, like characters looking each other deeply in the eyes and saying how beautiful they are or how much they love each other, and i think this is almost always a terrible choice imo, it’s just alternating between one kind of intensity and another
