i don't think i’ve ever read a breath of the wild fanfic where the author’s knowledge of the other games added meaningfully to the story

@witchfynder_finder with games like that i think either they become the Cave Story of Zeldalikes or everybody forgets about them after a year

if the former winds up happening i think that’d be cool but it really depends on whether others are willing to take its ideas and run with them or not

(also i think the title of Cave Story of Zeldalikes might already be taken by Anodyne)

@witchfynder_finder TUNIC looks really cute and fun it just also looks like it will take a lot of time and i don't have a thirst for adventure to sate or a need to complete arbitrary challenges to fulfil a narrative the size of a pamphlet

if i made games i would probably be all over it, but i don't make games and i don't think it knows how to translate itself into a conversation about anything else

@witchfynder_finder like i’m really 80% a twilight princess fan and only play other zelda games because they're set in the same universe as twilight princess

@witchfynder_finder no it's a very fair question

i like twilight princess

i like the toon link games, especially the handhelds

i like spending time in breath of the wild (but not the dungeons or combat so much)

the rest of the games i find tolerably enjoyable but they wouldn't be worth my time if they weren't zelda games and i wasn't already very invested in zelda worldbuilding, which is why indie versions really just do not hold that much appeal for me

they just demand you care too much and i don't

i don't actually enjoy zeldalikes so i don't think i am going to play the cute furry zeldalike

@witchfynder_finder lifehack: every opinion is a fact if you preface it with “i think”

an outstanding question is whether i want to duplicate the star for single‐word emphasis like ✧this, or only for ✧multi‐word emphasis✧ (which is the convention i follow with † dagger as a proper name mark, and which i think makes more sense for nonpaired bracketing punctuation)

for a bit i considered using # but # has a slightly different meaning i think

i considered dotted cross ⁜, which i have used in the past, but font support is bad and it’s a pretty busy glyph

i considered ❇️ but it renders as an emoji these days, and can be quite busy when it doesn’t (as is ❈)

✧ is simple and conveys the sparkle without taking up too much space, and it’s easy to handwrite

why not just use asterisks you may ask

well raised asterisks are used for footnotes and low asterisks are too small

one of the questions of this keyboard design is what character i wanted to adopt for plain text emphasis and i decided on ✧
