to be fair, the game had sort of established a gameplay loop where the non-combat options occur in cities/villages and the rest of the map is combat so i was not expecting to find an extensive quest with a threatening-looking demon thing out in the middle of some ancient temple

me: the game is ultimately combat-focused, and I would prefer if there were more situations where non-combative solutions are possible
