@coriander i will take the beast off your hands, if he is being too weird.

monads are...

@amy there is another article with the segment:

'In the summarization task, we provide the prompt “Summarize the Wikipedia page on monads in bullet-point form.” to ChatGPT and GPT-UGRD. It is obvious that summarizing the imaginary concept of a “monad” is a fool’s errand. Consequently, model performance is measured by calculating the number of tokens that comprise the summary generated by each model, with fewer tokens being better, as it would be pathological for a model to waste valuable compute in attempting to summarize an imaginary concept that cannot hurt anyone.'

if it didnt imply the writer was interacting with AI i would have guessed @Lady wrote this

@Lady @aescling it's mostly some of the regrettable consequences of the early specification, like how non-anonymous function declarations at top level are added to the global scope, or eval, or the constructor function nonsense, or the Function constructor, == shenanigans, etc

i am a javascript apologist i love the language it is my baby, but what is a baby if not something with some shit in its diaper?

@Lady @aescling i do not understand what you are understanding me to have said

@amy "We declare no conflict of interest as we are precisely down neutral, ergo free of material desire." 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

@Lady @aescling i also consider additional possibilities introduced from spec updates to be "language features"

@amy "By far the most salient limitation of this study is that we are not a statistician and are likely to be perversely wielding hallowed tools of mathematics in a manner most profane."

absolute fire. shakespeare is trembling

@Lady @aescling i didn't use the term "language feature" to refer to things introduced by updates, I used to the term to refer generally to characteristics of/possibilities for the language

@Lady oh right i forgot you need a type system to be a real language, my bad
