Just to clarify I like adult swim a lot. It's given us stuff like The Boondocks and Joe Pera Talks With You, shows that I can't imagine airing anywhere else. It's aired a lot of cool stuff.
But there is a demographic being targeted. There is a monetary reason adult swim exists. And there's a lot of female-oriented and queer media that would have never aired there.
I have seen multiple video essayists refer to adult swim as something like "bastion of creative freedom not constrained by corporate needs" and like... no. That is not a good way to describe adult swim.
