now i'm imagining someone from spain writing a los simuladores fanfic and using the word "coger" in a very non-argentinian way.

presumably people from other anglophone countries frequently have this problem with usamerican authors of fic for media set in their countries

having to remind myself that a british writer writing a fic set in the US in their native dialect is every bit as reasonable as it would be for someone to write such a fic in, say, spanish

@Satsuma it seems like that's often a secondary factor; like, the goal isn't mainly to appease the peasantry, but rather 1. to strengthen them as a source of taxes and 2. to weaken the large landowners who are more politically influential

also tbh at the point i'm at in reading about chinese history, it's rare for a new dynasty to follow the end of prior one instead of a centuries-long period in which there is no unified chinese state

apparently basically every dynasty in chinese history starts out their reign with an agrarian reform
