no one told me legends arceus was an isekai

so, we have some fake ham (that was given to us after a family lunch where Andrea accidentally bought it instead of fake hamburgers)

but it has just been sitting in the freezer because it doesn't seem like it really fits in our usual meal formats (protein source + rice, protein source + polenta, more rarely particularly large protein source by itself or with fried potatoes)

what do people even do with ham other than i guess put it on sandwiches? i'm soliciting ideas

today was my first time killing a PC and i did it twice!

oh, convenient. rail strike tomorrow has been postponed to thursday. hopefully this means they think they can get the pay rise they're asking for.
(but also it works out well for me since i don't have to go anyplace on thursday)

@aschmitz yeah but the interaction model is just kinda very different. loke the reactions need to be sent as emails and even supporting clients seem to treat “somebody reacted to an email you’re CCed on” as warranting a notification. which does make sense since people don’t often look back at emails that they’ve already sent/read where they could see the reactions. but very different from what one would expect from chat systems with reactji.

@Lady @aescling amusingly there are well-respected phoneticists who consider gemination in general as being not a lengthened consonant but two separate instances of the consonant! (well, strictly speaking the example i have to hand died in 2009, but probably he wasn't the only one)

@Lady @aescling is this really physically impossible? it’s also attested in Klallam (for several non-glottal stops and affricates, including [t], though it instead geminates the glottal stop and all fricatives). i don’t see why it should be less possible than sequences of different stops? it certainly seems easy to pronounce e.g. [cæt.te] with the first t released briefly before the following one (though it is as always possible there’s some other sound sneaking in to separate them that i’m missing)
