thinking about getting into conlanging

@Satsuma @aschmitz turns out when actually making the proper map i accidentally shrunk that section of the dungeon level by 1 square vertically compared to my plans, thus leaving me with an even number of squares for bed and bath, so i just made them the same size.

hmm, would a hedonistic wizard have a larger bathing chamber or a larger bedchamber? opinions welcome

the awkward thing about playing fetch with the cat is sometimes she misses me throwing the hairband and it is not really possible to get her to realize that the hairband lying on the floor a ways away is in fact the one she brought me to throw for her.

i didn't know cats liked to play fetch

started my new pathfinder 2e campaign. they made their characters and we got in a quick little fight that they won handily. i think the fighter felt pretty good about starting the campaign off with a crit one-shotting a person who was attacking them.

@Satsuma @aschmitz i think Obi opens the medicine cabinet which has like shutter-style doors by grabbing the individual slats and using them as handles. (we have now sealed them with tape that she hasn’t managed to bypass yet)

toki pona speakers were very wise when they came up with what head noun prefixes your name when referring to you as a means of identity-expression

highly recommend spilling a little bit of water on one sometime

possibly at some point i should figure out a way to make it actually apparent to the players that ~⅓ of all NPCs in the games i run are trans

it is both inconvenient and convenient as a person learning another language.

inconvenient in that it makes it sometimes more difficult to make some distinctions between spanish sounds not in english (or to not distinguish sounds distinguished in english but not in spanish)

but also convenient that probably nobody's even gonna notice how I pronounce b/v or s/z (even Sofi with zir native-level English fluency has difficulty distinguishing them when specifically listening for it)

the impact of people's (many people's, anyway) native languages on their perception of speech sounds is Neat

@aescling fair enough hehe

re: Snowflake Challenge 2024: challenge 4

@aescling "if you like thrillers" lol

we felt it was interesting but only like okay. i think my big issue is that it... was too understated to bring me to care. like it follows Josh's actions, but his emotional arc is basically not communicated at all, despite being the driving force of the events of the second half (or however much) of the film, so it feels like things are kind of just happening (which can be fine, except for most of the film the things that are just happening are that nothing much is happening)

@aescling @wallhackio i voted but honestly it's a lie. the best cat is obviously my wife (no offense)
