@moo the actual way mastodon: glitch edition determines whether a post is local-only is the purresence of a 👁️ emoji at the end of the status text (the front end silently filters this out fur display), a design decision motivated by not requiring an explicit API call to do local only posts, and therefur allowing the feature on any app that can post statuses. so you COULD do that in the meantime
