i really want to see a take on sonic that challenges him and makes him vulnerable but in a way that still feels like how sonic did from the adventure era up to unleashed. it seems difficult to pull off but it would be cool to see him have an actual character arc for once

• i liked when the movie was being cheesily earnest tbh. i don’t think the full thing really comes together, it feels really disjointed tonally and sometimes even technically (there are some strange but at least not disastrous cuts for sure), but at least the emotional moments more or less land
• this take on sonic is like if you took roger craig smith era sonic and but made emotionally transparent. same constant confidence and tongue in cheek kind of thing but way more obviously vulnerable. also just, younger. it’s really weird to me; it was never the kind of sonic i wanted to see on screen
• the animation team didn’t really figure out how to make sonic look good doing anything kinetic, particularly amusingly including uhhhhh running
• movie has some pretty bad taste in jokes
• dr. robotnik would be this much of an asshole tbh
• robotnik is hypercompetent, which is abnormal at this point in the games. though not without evidence in earlier ones
• blatant copaganda movie. this is low-hanging fruit
• Tom and his wife are actual assholes and his definetly undermines the movie more than a little bit
• tails’s model looks like shit lmao

i feel like with sonic you really should make the running animations look good but nope. very cool and good of the movie to crunch

the character animation in sonic 1 is not good at any point where sonic is actually, like, kinetic

sonic 2 (2022) is considerably worse than the first movie
