i ran this shit at least ten times bugfixing a major refactor that i never actually tested lol

@vaporeon_ tf machine got far enough to figure out what it was tf-ing me into but was crashing on me telling it to load a new avatar from the wrong folder lol. so the purrevious tf written to disk got out of sync

me when the api is less than purrfect

typing issues aside, i do think conceptually that sync and async versions of a function call should just be diffurent functions

grr grumble grumble, this api takes "do this asynchronously?" as an argument and the python type system is not expurressive enough to recognize that it either returns the connection it creates or bottom depending on the value of the argument. grr grr grr annoying api, annoying
