Claire opened a PR that would merge this change into glitch-soc so assuming that it makes, be aware of that when the next mastodon release rolls out or whatever makes you decide to update glitch!

and then went through merge conflict hell with EVERY COMMIT before realizing i had cherry-picked BACKWARDS
today i learned that while git and remotes like gitlab will allow you to write commit messages of absolutely unreasonable length, but will make no guarantees that external tools will be able to handle such a massive commit message
