@exa if you’re in North America it’s not native (it is native to Europe and central Asia) but has been assessed to generally be more beneficial than not as it helps add nitrogen to the soil (technically the mushrooms it symbiotically works with does this but, details) and supports a decent range of native pollinators

@ryfulets @superborb yeah i was also disappointed by that, though presumably one should be able to download font packages to fix? the original OS is Chinese so as long as you aren’t bothered by it being a bit clunkier you’ll presumably get full font support

@ryfulets yeah fortunately a decent amount of the stuff i want to read on it anyway is like, webnovels and such where i’m already just transferring my own saved files rather than going thru a store, so the tradeoff isn’t as bad as if i was just getting things thru a dedicated store…will let you know how it goes i guess 😅

@ryfulets big mood, facing the same quandary for my upcoming trip (i decided to just bite the bullet and get the teeny xteink 4, which i’d already been considering but idk how much it will actually solve things vs just adding yet another variable)

@jeridansky definitely interesting! kinda horrified by how often the fix is just “lie and say you’re chrome” though. which unlike the other specific quirks one would hope would be the solution zero percent of the time

@RC montrose point bird sanctuary is small but packed with birds — part of the Chicago parks system so free to enter and wander around

@alis fair enough! we are also dreaming of renoing the kitchen for more storage so maybe someday we’ll also be getting all of the big appliances lol

@alis re: pasta machine mixing pasta dough is super easy but the hand crank rollers for shaping (which are much smaller and therefore easier to store than the all in one models) are worth it imo!

if i did even 5% less baking than i currently do i would probably say the stand machine isn’t worth it (but also i have a beater attachment for my immersion blender, so its really just creaming butter recipes that actually need need a full stand mixer)
